“We visited a number of jewelers in Des Moines before making our way to Amerigem. The difference between Amerigem and everyone else was the personal service we received and the fact that we were able to design the ring we wanted for around the same price as a factory ring. After one meeting with Bruce, Abby and I knew we would work with him. Every other store we visited pressured us for the “quick sale,” trying to persuade us into buying something when we weren’t ready. Using CAD technology, Bruce was able to take Abby’s design ideas and digitize them for me so I could see it ahead of time. They also flew in two separate shipments of diamonds from South Africa, and after I found the perfect one, I had the completed ring within a few weeks. I’m not aware of anywhere else in Iowa where you can go in with a specific idea, put it on paper, and get exactly what you want within your budget. When you have a special somebody in your life, you search for a set of rings to symbolize the love you have for each other.
Like most couples, we started looking at rings, as our relationship became more and more serious. The process itself is always exciting, and a little over whelming. We visited several name brand chain jewelry stores in search of those special rings. We talked about the rings and the request was that I picked it out, as it was a gift from me. Like most guys, walking into a jewelry store was scary enough; let alone looking at endless ring styles, metal types and the diamonds. What cut, what size, what is clarity, which is more important?
I knew I needed a little help and hints as to what direction I should go with type of ring she liked and disliked. Off to the jewelry stores we went and after months of trying on rings, watching her expressions and repeated visits to the same store, it become quite clear to me, that I needed something different. I always had this impression that the sales people while friendly enough, but wanted the sale instead of a commitment.
This is where Amerigem and Bruce Owen fit in. I made an appointment with Bruce and immediately felt he wanted to help me design a ring as unique and special as the women I wanted to marry. Bruce patiently walked me through styles, metals, diamond cuts, sizes and made some suggestions. Based on the diamond shape, Bruce brought in a variety of diamonds sizes to match the 4 “C”s and allowed me to choose. Bruce also kept in mind the budget range I wanted and never tried to stretch it just a bit. Once the diamond was selected, we designed and modified the ring to show the true beauty of the diamond. Seeing my dream design for the engagement ring come to life in the computer graphics and then watch it actually being made from the mold, was exciting to say the least.
The engagement ring is just magnificent especially how it sparkles. Heidi absolutely loves it. She knows no one else has a ring like hers. She says the best part is that I designed it just for her- and it is truly unique.
We designed our wedding bands to match the engagement ring band and to match each others. Knowing the two of you have the same ring on and no one else ever will have one exactly like it, symbolizes the bond you have for each other.
We are thrilled with our experience at Amerigem and would highly recommend it to everyone who has found his or her special somebody.
